50 Years of Australian Christmas Stamps
Each year since 1957 Australia has issued Christmas stamps to facilitate the mailing of greeting cards to inland addresses, sometimes at a reduced postage rate. In later years there have been higher values in the series to cover postage rates to other destinations.
Stamps of St. Pierre & Miquelon: Fishing Vessel Issue (1956)
Being a maritime nation, St. Pierre and Miquelon naturally issue a number of stamps related to fishing. This is a fine example depicting the fish freezer “Le Galantry” and was designed and engraved by H. Cheffer and recess printed, it was issued for the Economic and Social Development Fund. Perf 13.
Stamps of Great Britain: Botanical Congress Issue (1964)
The colourful illustrations of the flowers of Great Britain were the subjects of Michael Goman’s vivid designs for the stamps, which were put on sale on August 5th, 1964 to mark the 10th International Botanical Congress held in Edinburgh from August 3rd to 12th.
