Denmark Post (Post Danmark)

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

Post Danmark (website in Danish or English) was formed on 24 December 1624. King Christian 4 issued a regulation called postvæsnets on postmen. A postmaster in Copenhagen was appointed and had to sit on the Stock Exchange for two hours each day and take care of the postrelaterede business. In 1653 a grocer named Poul Klingenberg took over for a 30-year period with the title of generalpostmester.
