Sweden furniture design

“Sitt skönt!” – “Sit comfortably!” exclaims Posten, and issues a series of SEK 14 stamps that honor Swedish furniture design, including Yngve Ekström’s Lamino. The stamps are perfect for heavy domestic letters or international greetings – or any mailing that aims to be beautiful.

In excellent company with the most important chairs of the last century, Posten selected the legendary Swedese armchair Lamino by Yngve Ekström from 1956 – which may not be so surprising, given that it was also designated Furniture of the Twentieth Century.

The other four chairs chosen to represent Swedish furniture design include Lilla Åland by Carl Malmsten from 1940, the Aluminium armchair by Mats Theselius from 1990, Cinema by Gunilla Allard from 1993 and Hug by Anna von Schewen from 2002.

Hans Cogne, professor of graphic design, designed the “Sitt skönt!” stamp series. And it is genuinely useful – because sitting comfortably is smart, and mailing stylish letters is pretty smart too, in this age of internet communication. Sit comfortably and mail beautifully!
