Bahamas-300x239

This year the Bahamas Post Office has released a set of six stamps, each a charming portrayal of a familiar scene from the story of the Nativity.
Each of the six stamps has been beautifully illustrated in ink.
This is an unusual medium for stamp artworks but was chosen because of the especially bright and vibrant colours that can be achieved and which reflect the Christmas spirit of hope and celebration.
In each of the designs the main focus is on one particular character but a theme that runs throughout the designs (including the First Day Cover) and helps to complete the compositions is the Star of Bethlehem, or Christmas Star, that inspired The Three Kings to travel to Jerusalem and which then led them to Jesus’ house in Bethlehem.
The FDC illustration completes this charming representation of the traditional Nativity with the depiction of a typical Nativity scene that will adorn so many houses this Christmas Season.
