Turkey Post celebrated the anniversary of Turkish cinema with a new stamps issue. The stamp was released on the 14th of November and is now available for purchasing.

Filmmaking in Turkey marks it’s 100th anniversary in 2014 and it comes with a great surprise.

Nuri Bilge Ceylan won the Golden Palm at Cannes Film Festival with “Winter Sleep” after a longing of 32 years for Turkish Cinema to win the most important award for the 2nd time in history. “The Road” directed by Yilmaz Guney was the only Turkish film to win Golden Palm award from Turkey in 1982.

Turkish Directorate of Cinema took the opportunity to celebrate this anniversary with a promotional campaign both for Turkish audience and foreign filmmaking industry to help increase the attention and investments in Turkish market.

Turkish film production industry keeps the rapid grow as deserved, with numerous production companies offering production services for foreign filmmakers and also with the help of the Turkish audience committed to watch Turkish films in theatre and prefering them over their Hollywood rivals.
