Hello:
FDR was one of the best stamp collectors of modern times, King George? was the next. FDR gave the US stamp program a level of excellence that they have not been able to match. Each issue he was interested went thru his approval and then off to production and that meant no committee to blow it out of size like it does today.
My boyhood collection has all of his works, as well as all the plate blocks and some sheets of others. I have many memories of the stamps of that era and a few years later, but each issue was full of precious artwork, well thought preportioons and love for te hobby. FDR would be my vote for the best person that helped our hobby.
